A individual indicted with stalking Kate McCann allegedly left her a voicemail message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who witnesses stated has repeatedly asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial indicted with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard communication data and information recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt repeatedly requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is one of the most covered investigations and remains unsolved.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

Another voicemail, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm heavy and not pretty like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I feel."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am she? What then? Wouldn't that be significant for you?"

"I do not need money, I possess a living here in Poland, I simply desire to understand," she added.

The panel was advised that via electronic messages, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a DNA test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a bid to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, a data specialist with Leicestershire Police who collated the evidence, told the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with close associates of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."

During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my point."

The court heard the co-defendant struck up a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in Leicestershire in December 2024.

Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated via communication app to Mrs McCann to express the press had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be treated respectfully in the period leading up to the appearance to Rothley, Leicestershire, in December 2024.

The court was told correspondence between the two defendants, in November 2024, discussing trying to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her garbage or from cutlery at a dining venue.

"We have to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the visit to their house, the defendant sent a communication which said: "We find ourselves positioned near the McCanns' house with our lights out similar to private investigators. I wanted to achieve this with another person I never thought I would be doing that with the McCanns."
