Jet Transporting Pete Hegseth Required to Touch Down in UK Due to Fracture in Windshield
A jet ferrying the US defense secretary was forced to make an unscheduled landing in the UK on Wednesday due to a fissure was identified in the aircraft's cockpit window, per an official announcement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.
"The aircraft touched down in accordance with standard protocol and all individuals on the flight, including Pete Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson said in a social media post.
He was traveling back from a brief trip to the city of Brussels at the time.
This incident isn't the first occasion that a US military aircraft carrying a top government figure has experienced technical problems.
Earlier this year, a American military jet ferrying the US Secretary of State to the German city of Munich was required to head back to Washington DC after suffering a mechanical fault.
