Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
