Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend after the squad's ten-game winless start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have previous links to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the club leadership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the former Luton manager - who played more than 100 of games for the club during his time as a player - is considered a leading contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a new head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed which means the club would not need to provide any buyout fee.
